TAKASHI MATSUYAMA
Takashi Matsuyama was born in 1957, and currently resides in Japan.
Matsuyama’s artwork is a powerful expression of his worldview, taking you on a journey through a world of dreams and fantasy by mixing the real with the surreal. His art speaks to the inner child in all of us, bringing out the warm and fond memories of our past. His artwork captures the heart of many, and can be regularly seen in magazines and advertisements. Matsuyama has always been quite the movie buff, and has published his cinema-themed artwork in a magazine. His novel portrayal observes movies in different angles, and is now part of a very popular serialized column. From plastic models to scrap wood art, and even cooking to home improvement, his creations go far beyond art. Taking from the lesson he has learned from self-building his home, he has authored a DIY home building book, and the home is used from time to time as a set for films. “My dream is to collect scrapped Beetles and restore them into race cars”, says Matsuyama. Having a limitless spirit of inquiry, Matsuyama is active in various fields, representing Japan as arenowned illustrator and artist.
